In a traditional Mexican Household, woman are usually the caretakers of the house, children, and rest of the family. Men are the "providers" and usually make the income to support their families. 

My family consists of my mom, dad, older sister, and younger brother. When I was younger, my dad and mom were both the workers of the family until I entered middle school and my mom became a stay at home mom. This made my dad our only source of income, and my mom the caretaker of the family. My sister on the other hand has always felt the pressure of being the older sibling + the first one in the family that was able to go to college. The answer is usually yes. Parents will never admit to treating their sons differently from their daughters and if i'm being honest, I'm not sure where this treatment comes from or why it happens.

Ever since my brother was born, I remember being told by my parents that no matter what it was my job, as his older sister, to take care of him and help him with whatever he needed help with, which I've always been fine with. It was until I saw multiple videos on social media of other girls (majority being Mexican) saying that they have experienced the same situation. In some way, I agree with them because many of these chores that we are put to do are basic tasks that will be helpful for our future lives. When I was younger, I used to complain to my parents because I didn't want to do my daily chores or help my brother with his chores, but as I got older, I've grown more tolerance to the fact that my brother is still young.
