The Crucible, written by the great American playwright, Arthur Miller, is commonly studied in high school Language Arts classrooms. While the play is filled with history, scandal and questions of morality--making it a high interest read for many students--the text is fairly complicated in its rich inclusion of multiple historical events. The play largely serves as social commentary; therefore it is important the students understand the play on multiple levels.
