They were called dislocated people the unwounded caulties of war.  The movie tries really hard to make the interment of the Japanese look like any other american town it does admit that living in a relocation center is not normal. That the home life and living is diffucult it even showed the guards at the center. The letter is short considering all the Japanese had too go through based on their race. The checks are only for $20000 a small price considering they lost all their possesions including homes. There was 3 attacks on the West Coast believed to have been by the Japanese. It is noted that Dewitt was also referencing what he believed to be radio signals given to the Japanese that were non american. Dewitt is also known to be racist of people that are asian. It was believed that there was signaling from people on shore to the Japanese in the submarines which the FBI had no information on for their investigation. He worked for the WRA department for 3 months where is was in charge of figuring out what to do with the japanese. He did not agree that a evacuation of people that had Japanese ancestry was necessary.  It seems that Eisenhower regrets what transpired with the Japanese american citizens being relocated. He says the 3 months were the most grueling he faced and he holds blame for the media and other politicians that showed bigotry to the Japanese. The one that stands out is in Fresno where someone fired a bullet at a Japanese Americans garage. This was not the first attempt at terrorism to a person of Japanese descent. The cheif of police was quoted as saying that it would simmer down. Obviously attitudes towards the Japanese Americans was changed towards the negative after they were relocated. Doc 1 is of a man and women sitting on a couch reading a newspaper. The man seems to be a older. There is also a younger man sitting on a chair. The place looks like it was messily put together by the way the walls look. It looks like they tried to make it look homey. The second doc is the one below. I know the tags were used to keep families together. Looking at the people pictured there doesn't seem to be anyway that these people could be spies against the u.s. They are just scared kids and a old lady. The biggest thing is the person asking how the people feel towards them. Obviously over their ancestery.  Doc 14 is a reply from the mayor of Alameda. He states that he hasn't heard anything of ill feeling towards people that are returning but that Alameda is much different then when they had lived there before since more military occupy the area. There is limited housing and its overcrowded. The newspaper does not seem against the Japanese American citizens. It even states that the Japanese Americans are loyal to the U.S.A. The paper was written on December 8, 1941. A day after the Pearl Harbor attack, The paper is even cautioning people against hysteria towards the Japanese Americans. The West Coast was also used for much of the military during WWII but they still allowed people of German and Italian descent to reside in the West Coast event though the U.S. was also at war with those countries. This brings me to Document 3 with the campaign poster where it seems it had to do more about the Japanese Americans had agricultural jobs that Anglo- American couldn't. By having the Japanese Americans Relocated this frees up land and house that the military and people of white color could take for themselves.
