One way to address the prevalence of rape and rape culture is to stop shaming the victim and encourage him/ her to come forward, and fixing the way the courts deal with rape. I think the me too movement was successful in that it raised more awareness about rape and sexual assault, but a failure in that even though more people are coming forward, rape culture and myths have remained the same, an many who report these things under the hashtags are shamed and accused of lying.

I think that we can address rape culture by normalizing it more and making sure people are aware of how common it is and aren't as afraid to report it. I also think that courts should handle rape cases better, giving victims more options for testimonies so as to not force them into reliving it. Schools should raise awareness about rape culture and the frequency of it and provide students, both male and female, with safety tips and options. Rape kits should also be cheaper as victims already go through so much and should have options like that more accessible to them.

I think that we definitely need to normalize the conversation of rape and sexual assault and educate everyone about these type of situations. Not only will this teach people to respect others and ask for consent, it will help victims, both males and females, feel more comfortable to share their story. These type of conversations should be required in school. I do think the #metoo movement has been successful in bringing more awareness to rape culture and normalize the conversation, however, there is still so much more we can do. Another important thing is to change how authorities label rape and the way they deal with rape kits and victims who speak out about their situation.

It is also important for schools to educate students about rape and help them feel more comfortable about reporting. I think that the #metoo movement has been successful, but there is still so much that can be done. For example, the number of rape kits actually being tested needs to be higher; this can provide evidence to convict a rapist and possibly prevent them from attacking someone else.

The society should think less that having to be involved in the actions of being raped is not a guilt. This way, the percentage of victims who are reporting will increase while the rapist decreases. #metoo movement had a great impact of rape culture in our society. This movement showed many victims that they were not alone in the situation and gave confidence to those who were hesitant.

I think we should address rape culture by educating people on rape myths so that people stop believing them. This will help people to stop putting blame on the victim. Also, I think we as a society should stop saying rape jokes because that can make people think that raping someone is normal and even funny. It takes away from the severity of the actual issue. I think the #metoo movement has been successful in bringing awareness to the situation, but there is still the issue that people don't believe the victims and fear false accusations.

Rape culture should be addressed both by society, and by the law. There needs to be more belief for victims of a crime like this, especially one that can be so difficult to prove in a court, and laws need to change regarding statute of limitations and the sentencing of the people who commit these crimes. If stronger sentences are imposed, then it sends a message to boys/men that rape/sexual assault is not ok, and the culture around that can begin to change.

I think that the way society view rape definitely needs to be changed. It needs to start with changing the definition of rape in the eyes of the government. But many of the problems are deep seeded socialization of men and women that will be extremely hard to change. As far as the #metoo movement, I think it is slightly successful. It is good that so many women felt comfortable and empowered enough to come forward about their rape. But on the down side, a lot of people have negative connotations associated with the #metoo movement because they think its an attack aganist men.
