Telling people what you think and learning things is the right way to do things. I think he means that courage doesn’t come from your fists because fighting someone strong isn’t courageous or winning a fight isn’t courageous. Being brave and overcoming your fears and helping in something scary or dangerous is courageous. The heart part is symbolic of wits and compassion. 
It is meaningful when Aunt Hortense says. “People keep secrets because they don’t trust each other. There are many different kinds, some are harmless, some are not.” This is an important quote for many reasons the most significant is people keep secrets to help themselves at the cost of others sometimes. Some evidence from the text is when the government says the plague isn’t anywhere and they just give vaccines to “be safe.” One other reason this is significant is the fact that this tells people why keeping a big secret is bad because if it gets out you are screwed because people feel betrayed. The final reason is trust, sometimes people don’t trust each other and that is because of secrets like Aunt Hortense says.
The final very meaningful quote is when Billy says to his dad “I’m not going to live my ‘life as your son’. I’m going to live it my way. Make my own decisions. Think for myself.” This is significant because Billy is saying I want to do what I want to do with my life. You can’t make decisions for me. I am my own person and you can’t control me. This is important for another reason, if you don’t speak for yourself you will be able to get roped into things you don't want to do. The final important reason is Billy is saying that you should be your own person, don't just always do what people want you to do, you should do what you want to do.

This is very meaningful because it shows the main characters main goal throughout the entire book, to kill Steelheart, this is his goal because Steelheart killed his father. Also this shows that he has seen Steelheart bleed, something thought to be impossible, that is important because it gives him hope that his goal to kill Steelheart is possible, in some way. This relates to the Reckoners who have been killing Epics all around, and that they can help David and he can help them eliminate one of the most powerful Epics ever. Another quote that is meaningful is “Meg is dead” (this is just something that happened I dont think someone said that exactly), this quote is meaningful because David- even though he didn't say it- loved her, and it was a huge hit that made him really sad. This symbolizes the ones you lose along the way, because if you're trying to kill someone like Steelheart you're bound to lose someone. I feel like this also gave him strength and even more reason to kill Steelheart and even more reason to get revenge. One last important and meaningful quote is “Steelheart is dead”. This is meaningful because it shows how he finally accomplished his life goal and in his heart avenged his dad. Also in that time he found out that Megan was in fact Firefight (this was surprising especially because no one even knew she was an Epic).
