He then begins to worry about how the counsellors will further have negative effect on the city. He sees flames, that isolate a single sinner who continually burn. They are eternally tormented by fire shaped like tongues. They embolize the tongues that used to make their betrayal of trust. They are alone, with no contact of fellow sinners. Similar to how they separated their victims. Dante looks through all the flames, then is drawn to the largest of flames. He finds a duo of sinners entrapped in the fire. There becomes an exception to the isolation. Ulysses and Diomede are entrapped under the same flame, for fooling the Trojans with the Trojan Horse. Ulysses is also in charge of the death of Achilles’ lover and by theft the destruction of Troy. Ulysses is then named the head sinner of Blogia VIII.
