Working with children has always brought me joy. I have worked as a babysitter; tutor; Sunday school and Portuguese teacher; and have volunteered in classrooms as a teacher’s assistant. Of all these experiences, I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching roles the most. They allowed me to realize my true passion in life and helped pave the way for my future career.

My favourite part about teaching is when a student has that ‘aha!’ moment. You could be teaching a student about any topic and they may be frustrated or not grasping the information…but the second they understand you can see their face instantly light up. This is what drives my passion. When I experience this with any student, I know that I have done my job well. I know that I have possibly made a difference in that student’s life by not giving up on them. I have been that student, I have been frustrated about not understanding something and all I wanted was to understand. I will always strive to be the teacher that does not give up on her students.
