The words in this word cloud depict the negative aspect of high school. For me, I did not have a good experience. These words speak volumes and can unfortunately be a reality for many teens throughout their school experience. Anxiety is one word that I can still relate to. It comes in many forms and can be triggered so easily. Students who build relationships in schools need to be more aware of their affect on their peers. Much of what happens during the school day can trigger anxiety that will be brought home after hours. This unfortunately can lead to depression, anger, and loneliness.

All of these words shown in the word cloud remind me of how it feels to be a teenager in middle and high school. Although I overall had a good experience in middle and high school, I still experienced feeling a lot of these words. The one word that really stood out to me was the word alone. I think this feeling is something that teenagers all feel at one point during their lives. Although this is something that everyone feels in their life I think their are ways we can help our friends, family, and strangers feel less alone. For example, one way is to spread kindness and be nice to everyone. You never know what someone is going through.

The words in the word cloud to represent the emotion you face not only in school but becoming an adult. Throughout life you come across all these words at some point or another. Thinking back some words that stuck out to me were alone, confidence, bully, and anxiety. Alone stuck out to me because I had an extremely great high school experience. However, in my last semester of senior year they switched my lunch period and I was eating with freshman all alone. I didn't know anybody and it was the worst experience, granted it was only 40min a day. I could only imagine what that would be like for someone who is alone on the regular. Confidence stuck out to me for two reasons. One I was always a confident person, and two it was probably the only word in the cloud that could be used positively and negatively. Confidence is what makes or breaks a person. Positive confidence allows you to let insults roll off of you. Not having confidence allows insults to start attacking your self esteem leading to deeper problems. Bully is actually a surprising one. I was not bullied, however, I learned I was a bully by association. I never bullied anyone, but I never stopped my friends from doing it. I saw it as I'm not the one doing it, so it's none of my business. When in reality me not doing anything was just as bad. The last word anxiety stuck out to me because my ex had anxiety bad. She would go 0 to 100 like a light switch and its honestly depressing to be on the outside and literally see someone breaking down. Anxiety literally destroys you and brings the weight of the world down with you -Andrew

To me the words in this word cloud represent the challenging emotional concepts that teens deal with on a regular basis. Teens often need encouragement, supportive education and consistent empathy to navigate the turbulent waters of adolescence.

Words such as outcast, coward, and victim remind me that interaction with negative peers, in particular, can have a significant negative impact on a child’s well-being. In human relationships, conflict is inevitable. Interpersonal relationships between peers are often challenging. Socialization and peer interaction allow youth to set personal values apart from those taught by their parents. In the school environment, students worry not only about passing academic courses but also about getting along well with her classmates. Ultimately, middle school, and high school students are still children, regardless of their age or size. They are still in the learning processes about acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, coupled with the resulting positive and negative consequences. While they still enjoy playing around and having fun, they’re also on the cusp of adulthood, and so they want to feel valued and respected. Finding a balance between conforming to expectations and expressing one’s own personal identity determines to what extent each student has learned social behaviors from his/her peers. While there is a need for autonomy, their social nature takes precedence.

Seeing the words on the word cloud reminds me of how society, people and our physical surroundings can impact who we are. Often times we have to deal with the issue of not fitting in because our way is not considered the "norm" which leads to us shutting down, feeling depress and conforming to things that we definitely wouldn't have had it not been for the pressures of our surrounding. I say its okay to be different, its okay to stand out, its okay to be yourself. Be bold, be different, stand out and be proud of who you are Do not yield.
Donna

The words in the word cloud describe experiences in middle and high school. What I thought about when reading these words was the book 13 Reasons Why and how Hannah was treated at her school. She experienced so much negativity from her peers that it was hard for her to enjoy her high school experience. I have not experience any negative peer pressure thankfully, but I did notice some kids that I went to school with that had it rough. I was not the popular type but I did have friends and enjoyed my little circle. I remember a girl who was bullied for her curly hair, or another kid because her clothes weren't up to par. It was to the point where I had to step in and let the kids know who were causing the damage to cut it out. Unfortunately this still goes on in schools today and more and more kids are dealing with this every day. - Jessica
