The Ecological Systems Theory is the theory that best explains children's development due to it takes into account how one part of the Mesosystem can have an impact on the Microsystem that then has an impact on the child etc. This theory best explains a child's development as it links everything together into how a child can be affected by the different systems. This is also the theory that takes into consideration the difference between cultures and societies and how they can affect the child differently in terms of how high they put certain things in their hierarchy.

I see development as continuous due to a child goes through ongoing development throughout their lives and they don't just go from one stage to the other within a short period of time. This is because children gain skills over time.

I found the bioecological approach the most interesting - it doesn't just consider smaller influences on cognitive development but broader influences and how they are all connected

I think a child's development is mainly continuous because this better explains how some children may develop later or at different rates compared to other children rather than a more discontinuous approach (e.g. Freud's set stages of development)
