St Patrick’s day is celebrated on 17th of March, the date of his death. Celebrated by millions all over the world it has become one of the most popular worldwide cultural events. People who celebrate St. Patricks day usually wear a green hat and the whole day is based off the colour green to celebrate the Irish culture. In Ireland, people wear a small bunch of something called Shamrocks on their right breast of their outer clothing. The Shamrocks are blessed in ceremonies all over Ireland by either the local Priests or Bishops. This is known as the Blessing of the Shamrock. St Patrick was the patron of Ireland and the first Bishop of Armagh but wasn't Irish and was born in Britain. St. Patrick also introduced Christianity into Ireland.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK. There was a civil war between southern Ireland and Northern Ireland which started in 1860 and ended in 1865. This is because Southern Ireland wanted to be free from Britain and the Northern Ireland wanted to be apart of Britain so the war caused diversity and then it mainly became the southern side of Ireland being catholic and the Northern being Protestant. The thing that didn't change was the second language being Gaeli. 39.8 % of Irish people speak gaelic. A thing that did change was that the Northern side kept their currency to Pounds and the southern changed their currency to Euros.

There is a lot of dark tourism spots around Ireland. This Irish Workhouse Centre was located in Galway and was for the unfortunate poor people in the 1840s-1920s. One hundred and sixty-three workhouses were built in Ireland throughout history as a last resort for the lower class. This is where they would work, eat and sleep, they would admit themselves into these workhouses as they had no other accommodation. The lower class would only work to eat and sleep at the workhouse and would have no other money. These were brought into the UK and Ireland to try and "Decrease the surplus population"
