         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.</strong> What are the benefits to students using technology in the classroom?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;When students use technology they have access to so much more information.&nbsp; They are used to using technology at home so it's just a normal form for them.<br><br><strong>2.&nbsp;</strong>What are the disadvantages for student use of technology?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Students can get distracted by other sites.&nbsp; They may have a hard time deciding what are reliable sites. <br><br><strong>3.&nbsp;</strong>What is your favorite classroom technology? Why?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I don't really have a favorite classroom technology.&nbsp; I like that we have Chromebooks for the students to use in the classroom. I wish we had more. As of now, we do not have a full classroom set so the students have to share or take turns. We have two computer labs that have some Chromebooks or laptops for school-wide use -- but if one of my kids goes to borrow one of those and they are all taken, then they're just out of luck that time. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1. </strong>What type of technology were the K-12 students using throughout your field experience observation? <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The students were using Chromebooks and an Elmo projection system. The projector projects onto a SmartBoard.<br><br><strong>2. </strong>Did students appear to be more or less engaged in the lesson content while using technology?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I would say it could be some of both. Some students were distracted at points by the technology, primarily the laptops, but for the most part these students are used to using technology at this point and know the expectations. It was clear that the Elmo/projector was especially helpful in engaging the students. <br><br><strong>3.&nbsp;</strong>What was the teacher doing while the students used the technology?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; When using the projector and/or Elmo, the teacher was either at the Elmo verbally highlighting information or at the SmartBoard pointing things out. When the students were doing things on the individual devices, she was walking around monitoring or helping students. <br><br><strong>4. </strong>What pros and cons did you observe related to the use of technology in the classroom?<br>     Technology has many benefits to offer the classroom. One of the times I observed, for example, the students were doing research in groups about a different U.S. states -- this would have been much more difficult without having the laptops/internet in general. Technology is also very helpful for enhancing lessons. However, technology has its limitations -- some  things simply must be done hands-on or with pencil and paper. Technology can also pose a distraction to students. </div>]]></description>
