         <title>Math</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Students will work on their counting by placing gummy leaves on a printout of a tree based on how many leaves the image says the tree has (they may eat the gummies when the counting is finished.) </p><p><br></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) The teachers will first pass sheets of paper printed from trees with words reading "I spy __ leaves on this tree.</p><p>2.) Each child will be given a tree with a random number ten times until they have had one through ten.</p><p>3.) The teachers will pass out a bag of leaf-shaped gummies, they will have ten at max (if they eat any early they can be given new ones if any are left over.)</p><p>4.)The teacher will give an example to the students before letting them try on their own.</p><p>5.) The teacher will go around and examine students to see if they need help, once everyone has the correct answer, or time is up (3-4 minutes) the child will be given a new number card and the process will repeat until every child has had 10 different number cards. </p><p>6.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Children will use magnifying glasses to look closely at details on miniature pumpkins, leaves, pinecones, gourds, squash, etc.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will pass out a magnifying glass, and one of each vegetable/pinecone to a student.</p><p>2.) The teacher will give each student a piece of paper to write what they find down.</p><p>3.) The teacher will look at a pumpkin themselves and name one thing they see before students work.</p><p>4.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Students will set up a fake fall pumpkin patch using materials they are given and then will act like they're going out to pick up pumpkins.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will give the students materials to make fake pumpkins.</p><p>2.) The teacher will show the students how to make them before they finish setting up on their end.</p><p>3.) They will finish setting up the fake stand and cash register before returning to help the student's if they need to.</p><p>4.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Kids will sort fall themed words into different plates by the amount of syllables they have in the word.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will hand out a bag of images with fall themed words on them and also 4 plates each with a different number from 1-4 on them.</p><p>2.) Teacher will instruct the students that they need to sort the images to the plates that correspond with the number of syllables that word has.</p><p>3.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Students will go outside and play in the leaves, they'll jump around in them and throw them around, feel them however they want.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will dismiss kids a table at a time to go outside and play with leaves.</p><p>2.) There will be pre-made piles of leaves ready for the kids to play around in.</p><p>3.) The teacher will go over any safety instruction they may have for the kids before turning them loose.</p><p>4.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Children will take fall leaves and sort them out by color to cards that match that color. </p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will place colored sheets of paper on the wall.</p><p>2.) The teacher will then explain that the students will be given a bag of fall leaves and they must sort them by color on the wall.</p><p>3.) The teacher will demonstrate an example.</p><p>4.) The teacher will give a bag to each table, and they will tell the students they can work together to sort out the colors they believe to be right.</p><p>5.) When they think they're finished they will check with the teacher who will put any that are correct on the paper.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Students will create a retelling of the story of Columbus and his adventure to the Americas for Columbus day.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will hand students a blank piece of paper and will ask the students to write "Christopher Columbus retelling" at the top</p><p>2.)  There will be areas around the room each with a different picture from a timeline of Christopher Columbus' journey to the Americas.</p><p>3.)The teacher will instruct the students to go around the room and place the images on the paper in the order they happen on this timeline.</p><p>4.) The teacher will start by placing the first event down and from there it will be up to the students.</p><p>5.)          <title>Circle time</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Children will come together in a circle and will discuss fall. They'll talk about what they like about it, their favorite things to do in the season, etc.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will announce to the class that circle time is beginning and the basics of what it is about.</p><p>2.) Teachers will dismiss students by table and guide them to a spot on the circle.</p><p>3.) Once every student is seated the teacher will take a seat in the group as well.</p><p>4.) The teacher will then go over the topic of circle time in more detail before starting off the discussion.</p><p>5.) The teacher will hand the student meant to talk a leaf and will explain that whoever has it is the only one that can talk so everyone knows when their turn is.</p><p>6.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Children will work with the others at their table to read a fall-themed book. They will read it out loud and will take turns reading.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) Teachers will first pass out a book to each table.</p><p>2.) They will then explain that the table is going to be reading the book out loud to each other (the book will be age-appropriate and related to fall, "Hey fall" for example)</p><p>3.) They will explain that students will take turns reading a page at a time in a popcorn reading style, but everyone must read at least once. </p><p>4.) The teacher will read one page with the class to get them started and then will let the kids loose on their own.</p><p>5.)          <description><![CDATA[<p>Children will make a watercolor painting of an autumn tree, they will draw to the best of their ability.</p><p><br/></p><p>Teacher instructions:</p><p>1.) The teacher will first pass out a piece of paper.</p><p>2.) Teachers will then give each child two different-sized paintbrushes</p><p>3.) Then the teacher will hand out a cup of water and a set of watercolor paints to the students.</p><p>4.) The teacher will show the students an example hanging up in a classroom, either done by the teacher or by someone else and explain how watercolor works.</p><p>5.) The children will now be free to work with as much time as they need to get to a point where they feel finished.
