The Departed cell phone scene.

In this scene, both characters are trying to find a “rat” Matts character undercover criminal working in the police department. Leo is absolutely the opposite. He is a cop who is working for a criminal group. In these scenes, they call each other but still have no clue who is on the other side of the phone.

A style that I want to use is calling “split-screen”. I choose this one because I think it’s gonna show more tension between characters.
This is an example from the Tarantino movie “Kill Bill”, where he used spilt screen in the Hospital scene. When the audience sees two characters simultaneously, they can watch their reaction and emotions immediately.

I used to work in the “split-screen” style during my “experimental film” program. I filmed my character twice in different locations. Also, I used two colours- cold and warm, to represent the mood of the character.
In this project, I’m planning to film one person in two different roles. Also, using different colours and locations.

Here is the link to my project for Techno club. I made this one with Sony a73 camera and 28-70 min lens. Overall experience was good. But at some point it was hard to work in a dark room with several light sources.

New Style.

Because of COVID, I have changed my style for the cinematography project. At first, I wanted to make a split-screen film, but I decided that this style will not give enough tension. So my idea was to make two separate screens, but I moved the camera closer to actors' faces to show their emotions closer with time. So the audience can quickly notice that there is something between these characters. Close up was my tool to open charters. Also, I used clock sound in this film. My idea was to show that both characters are in the same world and tension is growing. Also, the clock symbolises the fear of both characters because basically, they calling each other and yet they don't know how are they calling to.
Last but not least are the lights in my project. Both characters have bright and shadow lights on their faces. This feature I used to show both sides of the characters. The first actor filmed with studio lights and the second actor has natural lights. That happened because I wasn't able to shot with studio lights on the office.
