They actually say the myth of the Yeti is actually a legend. Sometimes it says there is more than one Yeti but some say that there is only 1. Who started this myth? Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Howard-Bury was leading the joint Alpine Club & the Royal Geographical Society (Everest Reconnaissance Expedition) into Mount Everest when he discovered footprints. He said that it was probably just caused a large loping gray wolf, which in the soft snow formed double tracks rather like a those of a bare-footed man though the Yeti has been around since the ancient times. What is a Yeti? Yetis are bipeds (meaning they walk on 2 legs) that have thick, white, fur that let it survive in harsh conditions. When did the myth of the Yetis start? The myth of the Yetis started in 1921, which was only about 93 years ago and not even 100 years. As I said earlier Lieutenant Colonel Charles Howard-Bury had discovered the first footprints. Why do people say that Yetis are not 100% real yet? People don't say that Yetis are 100% real yet because they have not seen a real Yeti yet. People have found many pieces of evidence that Yetis are real like there are a few photos of a large ape-like creature in the snow. The most common evidence of Yetis that have been found are Yeti footprints that have been found in the snow of the Himalayan Mountains. How are Yetis able to not be seen so they is rarely sighted? People say that Yetis are so fast and swift that they cannot be captured unless it is very ill or dead. Imagine being that fast! Here are some fun facts about the Yeti. 1. The Yeti is so strong that it can kill an animal or human in one punch! 2. Yetis can cast aside large stones with just 1 hand. 3. Yetis live in the Himalayan Mountains. 4. Yetis are like the eastern version of the western Bigfoot. 5. Believe it or not, Yetis may look tough and scary, but they won't attack humans unless it is forced to defend itself of a threat made to it. 6. A Yeti will throw stones if it is frustrated, fearful, or hunting for food. 7. Yetis are nocturnal. 8. Yetis are mainly visible at night. 9. People say that Yetis have similar characteristics to a large orangutan. 10. Another name for a Yeti is the Abominable Snowman. 11. A Yeti's name has different name like "rock bear" or "snow bear". 12. The myth of Yetis started in Tibet. 13. A man named Eric Shipton had found Yeti footprints. 14. Yetis are a big buisness in Nepal. 15. Henry Newman had given Yetis the name the Abominable Snowmen. 16. Yetis will use large stones as weapons for hunting or defense. 17. Yetis make growling and whistling noises. 18.
