Based on what we discussed today, I do not believe we can stop the extinction event, but can slow it down a bit. Based on evidence like the earth heating up due to humans emitting harmful substances into the air whether it is carbon emissions to cars to hairspray, humans have caused the extinction event. We can slow it down by using green fuel and by not using the harmful hairspray, but ultimately, the extinction event will occur but we can slow it down.

CO2, a greenhouse gas, is being released into the atmosphere increasing the CO2 content and creating a barrier where heat cannot escape the Earth. If it gets too far, we will be unable to stop it and the Earth's temperature would increase drastically. The same thing happened to Venus, where its volcanoes put so much gas into the atmosphere that it sealed in all the heat. The CO2 we're releasing is accelerating this happening, but it would require 10 times the amount we are releasing today, which wouldn't be too hard to do in the near future when there's more people on the planet and they need energy and food.

I think that the Holocene Extinction Event will happen one day due to human actions. Although yes, there are changes we could make to better preserve the animals and habitats, we probably won't for a number of reasons, one being cost and another being the fact that people would lose their livelihoods. But, I still believe we could do some things alternatively to help at least slow down the process of extinction and endangerment.

Ideally, by cutting back on fossil fuels and forcing restrictions on commercialism. Not everyone is going to willingly give up some of their privileges in order to help the world get better though as there are a lot of selfish people in this world who would rather have a new place to shop than use land as a reserve dedicated to protecting wild life or nature. So realistically, maybe in the future we can all vote for representatives who's goals involve helping the earth.

However, this would require the cooperation of every country, which just isn't possible in today's political climate. We would also have to convince people to completely change their lifestyles, potentially putting their livelihood and way of life at risk, which not many people are willing to do.

Attempts to halt or further stop this extinction event would require universal outreach and the dissolving of environmental ignorance. It would also need government instituted programs to gather our people and other nations together to fix mass climate change, animal, and plant extinction. We would need to commit to lowering emissions and no poaching in order to boost our environment. Unfortunately, it would require work and change which most people won't do unless near mass extinction or immediate danger.
