-DRAFT- How many of you get everything done after school, including homework? Yes I mean everything such as sports, your social life, your family life, your job if you have one, your house work. Ok, now how many of you get very little or even no sleep? Do you see the problem? Homework takes up a lot of time, digging into our sleep. How many of you wake up early? So, if homework along with all our other tasks after school dig into our sleep time, then we get very little sleep. If we get little sleep, we sleep in class. We sleep in class we lose class time, miss a lesson. We miss a lesson we don't know how to do the homework. That adds stress and it builds and builds. If this isnt your case then homework in general causes stress, along with your daily life. Stress builds depression. Depression leads to lack of motivation and without motivation the student will no longer pay attention when awake. The lack of motivation also affects the homework does get done. Parents were taught differently then we are today, so most of what we do they do not know, meaning we gain less help. We need time to cool our minds and relax afterschool, if not we become overloaded over time. The weekend is a good source of relaxation however homework is usually given over the weekend as well. Why is that? The weekend is supposed to be two free days, two days we can let our minds relax and cool down from all we did that previous week. Without time to truly cool down, as well as more work building up, it can even lead to mental breakdowns. Homework although good in some ways is very damaging to the students.
