It shows the type of person he is and the way that he acts in his life, he is very lazy and tired of everything. It shows what Holden thinks but never says, and that Holden is judgemental. His teachers were always writing letters to my mother, telling her what a pleasure it was having a boy like Allie in their class. And they weren't just shooting the crap. They really meant it. But it wasn't just that he was the most intelligent member in the family. He was also the nicest, in lots of ways. He never got mad at anybody. People with red hair are supposed to get mad very easily, but Allie never did, and he had very red hair. I'll tell you what kind of red hair he had. I started playing golf when I was only ten years old. Pg4
The thing that it reveals about Allie is the way that he lived his life, and that he loved it. He was smart and knew what he was doing. He was just a young kid living his life. In the wintertime, it's pretty long, though. Sometimes my mother braids it and sometimes she doesn't. It's really nice, though. She's only ten. She's quite skinny, like me, but nice skinny. This shows and characterizes Phoebe and the way that she is. It shows that she is a smart person who is also very young, she enjoys going outside and living her life. Woodruff, and I knew she was home because I'd had this letter from her a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't too crazy about her, but I'd known her for years. I used to think she was quite intelligent, in my stupidity. The reason I did was because she knew quite a lot about the theater and plays and literature and all that stuff. If somebody knows quite a lot about those things, it takes you quite a while to find out whether they're really stupid or not. It took me years to find it out, in old Sally's case. Pg 9
This shows who Sally is and the way that she is as a person, she is smart in every way and in the theater arts, this is a sign of enjoying what she does.
