I think athletes make too much money. This is because they put in a low amount of work to get insane amounts of profit. Now - mind you - this is a completely legitimate way of making money, but there is no reason that these people make so much. For example, Floyd Mayweather boxes (only) but made 105 MILLION dollars from two matches from June 2013 to June 2014. However, policemen, firemen, etc. only get paid on average $50,000 per year. This is completely unfair based on importance and work hours. Now, I’m not saying that everyone should have the same salary, I’m just saying that athletes do almost nothing but get paid the most out of everyone, which isn’t fair.

People like Ronaldo, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady are working very hard, have tons of sponsorships. Without these athletes many stadiums and teams attendance would cease to exist, as most spectators go to watch/interact with their role model/star. These superstars are being paid based on their skill level and they are putting up astronomical statistics far greater than that of all previous athletes and making a scale for which to pay athletes based on their skill would be impossible.

They are not fighting for our country and it’s putting too much on the schools. An athlete will throw/catch a ball, earn a scholarship and a ton of money while the smart kids may get a scholarship and earn less money for college. I know athletes still have to have a good GPA to stay on the team, that still doesn’t change the fact that smarter kids are struggling. The rest of the kids get hardly anything compared to the athletes. Like how athletes get to travel places for free. Outside of school, the athletes are still being paid too much compared to normal citizens. They are paid a lot more than the people who fight for our country. They get paid that much for playing sports. They already have the job of their dreams making money playing sports but since it's what they want to do they should not get paid that much. It said in the article “They also get concerts, lecture series by prominent people, on stage productions, movies, intramural sports fitness facilities, and a variety of different clubs are paid for free for the athletes with scholarships”. I know for a fact that that can add up to 200,000 dollars. It said that in the article too. They don't give out as many education scholarships. The smart kids have to pay for their education when some of them go on to be doctors and benefit the community. The sports players get paid for doing what, nothing to benefit from other than entertainment. They need to give some money to some of the smart kids or give to a good cause. Once again i say athletes make way to much money.
