Reciprocal see what I can do for the child maybe if the child isn't interested in a particular toy I would offer him or her other options.

Respect: Provide a range of materials such as paint, clay, etc… and allow children the opportunity in decision making

Respond: Observe and guide children as you notice they might face challenges such as squeezing the paint, etc… Respectfully ask if they need your help? Pick up cues to respond while observing.

Response: Communicate with children as they engage in the activities e.g., in numeracy learning centre - Ask children open-ended questions like what did you build? can you name some of the colors?

Respond- We always talk to the child using gentle words and in a calm mannerduring activity to see how they are learning. Reciprocate- what we do is we get the interest of the child then we give them other option to try and explore.

Response: Guide the children or give suggestions/divert then into using the materials as how the activity is to be used like “wow i see how you did this, should we try placing …. over here? What about this, do you see any matching/same looking number?”

Reciprocal: Allow children to explore the activity on their own to explore and improvise to guide them when needed in their ways.
