The Federalists were for the Constitution. To show people what was good about the Constitution the federalists created a set of papers called The Federalists Papers. The Federalists Papers explained the new branches of government along with the checks and balances system. They argued that a strong central government was better than a confederacy of controlling factions.

Anti-Federalists were against the Constitution and believed that any federal goverment did not have the ability to pass laws that would suit all of the states. They also had the belief that the Constitution would take away alot of the power that the states had. Another powerful argument had was about basic human rights (unalienable rights). The argument said that if the Constitution did not protect these right it was unsuitable. Some of the prominent leaders of the Anti-Federalists were Patrick Henry, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and George Mason
