Is this a good idea?

In my opinion, the Dakota Access pipeline is a good idea because it will greatly benefit the economy, create roughly 8,000 construction jobs, and be more environmentally friendly than transporting the oil on trucks or rails. The United States already has 2.5 million miles of pipeline that carry oil and natural gas around the country. This would be another major line that would add to the pool of economic growth.

Using social media as a platform for taking action could help spread the word on the issue, but also have a negative impact. Since social media is so easily accessible to anyone, then the truths regarding the issues could get lost in the lies people spread, creating an even bigger argument that could turn violent.

The pipeline will move more that 520,000 barrels of oil per day and be a more efficient way of transporting the oil compared to rail or truck. It is both safer and more environmentally friendly. From this, really all the U.S. citizens will benefit because the cost for gasoline could decrease as well as it can help make the economy better and provide temporary construction jobs. Even though the pipeline does not have any emanate issues, it could have some potential hazards that would effect the Dakota Indians in that area. They say that the pipeline runs through sacred ground that is not on their reservation. They also say that it could pollute their water if it were to fail. However, there are already many pipelines that run under the Missouri river and around that area.

Standing Rock Sioux tribe vs the US Supreme Court. The issue is a little more complicated than that, more people like environmentalist and some farmers support the Standing Rock Sioux tribes in protests and rally in North Dakota. They say that the pipeline will run right through their sacred land where hunters and gathers of tribes before them were buried. They also claim that if the pipeline were to fail, then their only source of water will be polluted. On the other hand, the U.S. Supreme court has already said yes to the project and construction is underway. Their argument is that the pipeline is a way to easily access the oil.
