Our display features knitted hugs clasping bunches of Forget Me Nots – a touching tribute to those living with dementia and a reminder of the importance of understanding and support. Each hug carries a simple but meaningful phrase beginning with “Give me a squeeze when…” followed by everyday scenarios that highlight the often invisible challenges faced by people with dementia. From moments of confusion and forgetfulness to feelings of frustration or anxiety, these messages are designed to gently raise awareness and spark empathy in our community.

You can find our yarn bomb installations at two locations: Enfield Town Park and The Broadway next to Edmonton Green station.

We hope that as people pass by, they take a moment to reflect and learn more about how small acts of kindness and understanding can make a big difference to those facing Dementia.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards this project. Whether you knitted a hug or made the Forget Me Nots, you’ve certainly helped us to raise more awareness about Dementia in our community. We’re so greatful to be surrounded by a talented bunch of knitters who can turn their hand to any project. This time, we collaborated with the North London Hospice alongside our HAPPY project knitters and it just shows that when you bring the community together - wonderful things can happen in partnership with : Enfield Dementia Action Alliance
