America becomes the economic and political leader of the post-war world. From 1946-1964, the "Baby Boomer" generation was born, as the population explodes with the addition of 78.3 million people. Rock and roll was incorporated into American culture as black rhythm and blues was mixed with country and folk, and artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry flourished. American films also lead the world, as method acting, or more realistic acting, became popular and stars like Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe excelled.

Globalization occurs when national economies, politics, cultures, and societies become integrated with other nations. As the world developed, emerging nations began to rely on lower paid workers and resources. Although it has many pros such as allowing companies to find lower-cost ways to produce their products, increases global competition which drives creates variety for consumers, and helps people live better on less money. It also has cons including an increase in poverty and exploitation.

The Space Race was a 20th-century competition between the Soviet Union and the United States to achieve superior spaceflight capability. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin was the first man to orbit the Earth in the spacecraft Vostok I, and three weeks later the US launched the Freedom 7 and Alan Shepherd became the first American in space. Then in 1961, President Kennedy announces to Congress that he wanted to be the first to put a man on the Moon, and the Apollo Moon program was launched. After many years of experimenting, the Apollo 11 spacecraft was launched into space and on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon. The Space Race concluded in July of 1975 with the first US-Soviet joint mission, and ultimately showed the world which country had the best science, technology, and economic system.

Genetic engineering is the direct manipulation of an organism's genes using biotechnology. It can cure and treat diseases, as well as diagnose symptoms of early problems. It has also been applied to improve the resilience, nutritional value and growth rate of cops such as potatoes, tomatoes, and rice. Unfortunately, with the development of genetic engineering techniques, the scope of possible public health interventions has increased dramatically and raises additional ethical issues concerning the genetic manipulation of plants, animals, and humans in the pursuit of health promotion and illness prevention.
