Then in 1961, President Kennedy announces to Congress that he wanted to be the first to put a man on the Moon, and the Apollo Moon program was launched. After many years of experimenting, the Apollo 11 spacecraft was launched into space and on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon.
