As an example, many Japanese teachers have collaborative work periods that are based on like groups. Also, there are some different ways of doing things such as math. As an example, Japanese students learn to do multiplication using lines. The lines provide a visual for what multiplication actually is.

I would like to know more about lesson study as its is still something that I feel I could understand much better.

I have learned that when done well, lesson studies can be incredible opportunities for collaborative learning.

WANT: I want to know what makes the Japanese education system is better than the Canadian education system, and how we can bring those strategies and environment styles into our classrooms over here. I am also interested in knowing whether or not it would even be effective to bring the teaching strategies of another country into our systems here. 

LEARNED: Lesson studies can be very effective in our educational practice. This topic again ties into being collaborative, and similar to the Japanese education system, to look at collaboration as something that is not only positive, but beneficial. We may be teachers, but we are always learners.
