In 2016, the photographer went back to find them and only 3 of them are still alive. 7 had died from overdose and lasting damage from the drug, 2 were relapsing and still addicted, and only 1 had kicked his addiction without any lasting effects. Desomorphine is 10x more powerful than morphine  but acts faster, within minutes, and only lasts about 2 hours. Leaving users wanting more sooner.
