I really do appreciate how big hearted you are and how much you respect each of us as people instead of merely students. I really do hope you feel better. we didn't know it at first but to have had you as a teacher was a blessing, especially for a class like ours. mr tan, the past year and a half has honestly not been easy for any of us, but i think i speak for a lot of us when i say that your energy is always capable of lifting one's spirits and changing one's day for the better. i think that deserves a lot of credit, a lot of respect, and most importantly a lot of appreciation from the bottom of all of our hearts :)

I remember actually feeling so amazed that day in bio when you told us that you were facing problems with your mental health, and encouraged us to seek help if we needed it. thank you for truly walking the talk. we always hear the same adage from teachers about the importance of mental health, yet no one actually talks about it when they are struggling - the white elephant in the room remains, and the stigma continues. I guess many of us tend to think that adults don’t face similar problems as us just because of their age and maturity; I really appreciate your willingness to be vulnerable with us, because it showed us how there’s simply no need to put on a brave front. Everyone has their own battles to fight, and I deeply admire your bravery for letting us know about yours. And thank you for trying to relate to us; it makes us feel that our struggles are valid, and we aren’t alone in this storm.

“留得青山在，不怕没柴烧” Where there is life, hope will prevail. At some point, the tides will turn in our favour. I’m sure all of us in 3A are immensely grateful to have had you for h2 biology, and I truly hope you’ll find that the spark in your life returns soon to lift your spirits. jiayou :”)
