Domain names are preferred because they are simply a lot easier to remember than IP addresses, it is easier to remember normal words that you would have in a domain name rather than a combination of numbers.

the domain name appears after the https.www. in a web address. the www is a sub domain, and for example youtube.com would be the domain name

some things that can be considered when choosing a domain name are as follows

-Making it easy to type
-keeping it short 
-try to make it as memorable as you can
