I also learn that geography, history, community and role of citizens are included in social studies. I learn that teaching social environment to children will help children to have a better understanding and build a relationship with the community, society and world around them.
I need to learn more about planning for extension activities in lesson plans for social environment. For example, I need to prepare extension activities that are more challenging or include more thinking skills such as critical thinking skills. I also need to learn more about integrate different subjects according to different children’ needs when I prepare lesson plans for social environment. For example, I need to relate the subjects with the learning objectives closely through appropriate activities. Besides, I need to learn more about using more hands-on activities that include critical thinking and problem solving activities for lesson plans.

I have learnt that as an educator, I have a responsibility to connect the children to the world. When the children growth, children can know everything that is happening around them. The teacher can bring issues to the class, let the children discuss it, and let them share their opinions. For example, this sudden outbreak of covid-19. Teachers and parents can discuss this issues with children through some activities to learn more about coronavirus. In addition, I have learnt that field trip is important part for the children to learn about the culture and environment. Children can learn best and fast through field trip experience.

I need to learn more about the planning for the extension of the social studies lesson plan. I need to learn how to integrated the social studies with different subjects, for instance, designing the lesson plan of social studies with different kinds of subjects and also activities. Besides, I also need to learn how to help children to improve awareness of nature, for example through some events or activities.
