The irony of the Allied victory in Europe was that America's financial and military contribution to the Allied victory in WW1 gave Wilson more influence in shaping the post war world than neutrality would have. Also, his solutions for the post war were so hated by the other Allied powers that the resulting post war Versailles treaty was a flawed compromise which led to WW2.

The Yalta conference is significant for many reasons. It consisted of the "Big Three" which refers to; Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin. They met a week before the assault on Iwo Jima in February 1945. Allied forces were beating Hitler's army from both the East and the West and the "Big Three" had to make some decisions about Europe post war. Roosevelt had just fixed tension in his own party by electing Harry Truman for vice president, and now he was going to Yalta to fix the tension between the Western nations and the Soviet Union. However, getting the Soviet Union to join the United Nations would be much harder than he thought. Stalin only agreed to help defeat the Japanese if he was given Asian territory. The people were extremely disappointed in Roosevelt's performance at Yalta. Eight weeks after this, Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage and Truman became president.

Truman dropped the atomic bomb on Japan because he wanted to avoid invasion of the Japanese because of the danger it led. He hoped the bomb would be enough for Japan to surrender and they would not have to invade them. He also wanted to show the soviets of its power for post world war II policies. Truman was right to drop the bomb. It was the only way to make Japan surrender and the Japanese soldiers y were so desperate that they were trained to die in Kamikaze attacks, There fore an atomic bomb was the only way to solve the problem.

America's strategy for defeating Japan was, "Island Hopping." They went towards Tokyo, dodging the heavily secured islands, and they secured air bases on less protected islands. Bombers would then launch from runways and cut supply lines by bombing the heavily secured islands.
