· In order to document my assessment activities, I needed to set up a Padlet account

· Having never used Padlet previously, I was new to the website but I found it very straightforward and easy to sign up using my UCD email and creating a password.

· The functions of Padlet that I learnt about through the informative videos on YouTube were very useful, especially for eventually sharing my Padlet once I complete it.

· I think it’s a great application for documenting progress with assignments, it also helped me gather my thoughts for my reflection piece too.

Pocket

· Pocket was another information organising application that I wasn’t familiar with prior to this assignment.

· After setting up my account, with the help of the YouTube videos I watched about Pocket I was able to navigate the app and collect some articles I found interesting.

· I like the way you can save articles you find online via google and safari into Pocket to read later. It’s great for when you stumble across an article you want to read but don’t have the time to in that moment.

· I also enjoyed the option to view more articles from a writer you like. I found a particular article titled “The best chocolate for baking” from writer Stella Parks, the original article being from a website called “Serious Eats”. I then was able to discover more food related articles from Stella which I continued to read after enjoying this article so much.

· I enjoyed using the highlight option to highlight sentences I found important to note for myself that I could see if I was to revisit the article in the future.

Pinterest

· Pinterest was an information organising application I actually was familiar with prior to this assignment.

· Pinterest differs to Pocket as Pinterest is mainly photo and video based, whereas Pocket would be Article and word based.

· I had my account set up already, however I haven’t actually used Pinterest properly so I learnt a lot about the app because of this assignment.

· I began by setting up a board (almost like a folder to store images I find), and named it “Greek Holiday”. It’s the one place I want to tick off my travel bucket list once we can travel again, so I wanted to create an image board of beautiful and aesthetic images of Greece.

· Personally, I have learnt that I prefer Pinterest as I am a visual learner and I prefer to work with images rather than text. However, I do think that Pocket is a fantastic way to encourage people to read more articles as it gives people the opportunity to take in information at their own pace and whenever they chose to.

Google My Maps

· For my map mashup, I began by creating the theme/idea of “Stadiums in Ireland”

· I thought this was a good idea as I knew there was a nice amount of stadiums in Ireland (around 20), which I could place on a map clearly.

· Following the instructions on the UCD Library website, I began by logging into my google account and going to Google My Map.

· I hadn’t used this application before, but I found it very straightforward to use.

· I created my excel document, noting the names of the stadiums, their location, county as well as their latitude and longitude location.

· Once I had completed my document, I copied this into the first layer of my map. This gave me the pins for all the stadiums in Ireland I had noted in my excel sheet. These are noted by the blue stadium icons.

· I then added my second layer to my map, noting all of the counties the stadiums are in. These are marked by red pins.

· I then added 4 points of interest around Ireland, The Titanic Belfast, Trinity College Dublin, The Blarney Stone and Croke Patrick. These are marked by a yellow star icon.

· I then added images and YouTube videos to all of these points to add more visual information to my map.

See my map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=1WUjnPLv-lsvJZjYYk7pqfPf2bAMJVzaA&usp=sharing

Screencast O Matic and Youtube

· Screencast O Matic was an application I wasn’t familiar with prior to this assignment, however, I was quite familiar with Youtube but I had never uploaded my own video/content before.

· I started by brainstorming ideas for my 30 second video. I wanted to create a simple how-to video, so using my knowledge and love for makeup, I decided on the video titled “6 STEP EVERYDAY GLOWY-FRESH MAKEUP ROUTINE”.

· I recorded my video on my phone, and then screenrecorded it using Screencast O Matic as I found this tool the most helpful to me.

· I then recorded my voiceover using Screencast O Matic which was fairly straightforward and easy to do.

· The best thing about Screencast O Matic was that it gave me a direct way to upload my video to Youtube, all I had to do was log into my google account.

· Then on youtube, I made my video Public to allow for sharing and uploaded my video. The whole process was very simple and easy to use.

See my video here: https://youtu.be/Eo9Eze8my8U
