         <description><![CDATA[<div>The three-dimensional geometry of DNA was exposed in photograph 51. Deoxyribose nucleic acid, or DNA, was the subject of Rosalind Franklin's fifty-first X-ray diffraction pattern photograph. Following Franklin's passing in 1962, Watson, Crick, and Wilkins shared the Nobel Prize for their research on DNA. In the 1930s, researchers started compiling DNA X-ray diffraction patterns. At the time, diffraction patterns were hazy and challenging to discern.</div>]]></description>
