 Food for Reunion Dinner 
On the Chinese New Year's Eve, people who work far away from home  come back for "Family Reunion Dinner, foods like sweet rice balls, tangerines, fish, dumplings and glutinous rice cakes are eaten during this festival. 
 Activities 
When the Chinese New Year clock strikes, it is time to set off firecrackers and welcome the New Year. People like to visit temples and pray for good health and a year of good luck. They enjoy watching firecrackers, dragon dance and lion dance at the temples. It is  until the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, the Lantern Festival, after that THE CHINESE NEW YEAR IS FINISHED.

Amis Harvest Festival is held on the full moon day after the autumn harvest during July, August, and September, and lasts 1~7 days.
The main purpose of Amis Harvest Festival
1. The festival is a celebration of the year’s harvest and an opportunity to express gratitude to tribal ancestors for their blessings and protection.
2. After a hardworking year, they celebrate the harvest. The tribe members get together, enjoy the festival, participate in many games and competitions, share food, sing and dance.
3. The Harvest Festival is an important social event. During the dancing, around the camp fire, led by a singer, they dance hand in hand. It provides a opportunity for younger members to search for potential marriage partners.

The myth of this festival is a love story between Weaving Maid and Cowherd. Weaving Maid is the 7th daughter of Emperor of Heaven who is very good at weaving. She fell in love with an orphan cowherd. They got married and had two children. The Emperor of Heaven was very angry and separated them. The weaving Maid was forced to move to the star Vega and the cowherd moved to the star Altair. The grandmother of Weaving Maid made a Silver River (Milky Way Galaxy) in the sky between these two stars to keep them separated. They were allowed to meet only once a year on July 7th of lunar calendar. Every year on this day, the magpies formed a bridge to reunite this couple.
