INTRO
time frame: 1945-1971
key words: Cold War, development of the global economy
GF: Cold War

PARA #1: The Cold War allowed for the paradigm shift in American policies.

PARA #2: The Cold War pushed America towards providing monetary aid for global economies.

PARA #3: However, the Cold War also had detrimental negative effects on the economy, as resources were allocated to the military instead of towards economic development.

CONCLUSION: When comparing between the positive and negative impacts of the Cold War, the positive impacts of the Cold War outweigh the negative ones. Using the criteria of how long the impacts last, the long-term positive impacts of kickstarting the economy through provision of aid from the US and establishment of institutions such as the Bretton woods system are more significant than the short term division of resources within the US. The negative impacts of the Cold War could also be easily mitigated in the long term as the growing economy was able to make up for the loss in economic growth due to military spending. (include some egs) As such, the Cold War largely brought about positive impacts to the development of the global economy from 1945 to 1971.
