I think Katniss' anger towards her mother was for a good reason because Katniss was not getting treated fairly all because of her mother's disappointment. She would have to do all of the work and responsibilities around the house while her mom stayed in her room out of sight.
I would be angry just like Katniss if my mother treated me that way because we all would be heartbroken anyway, so why have me do all of the work. The text explains that she would refuse to get a job or work. It also explains that she would sit in a chair or in her bed with blanket and do nothing. She was in some dark world of sadness and Katniss had to deal with it. I think that Katniss' mother had an unacceptable behavior. I also beleive I would be upset and feel just like Katniss if my mother, family, or friends did that to me.

I think that the anger Katniss has shown is valid because she had done all of the work for years, and much of her food was wasted to feed her useless mother. She had to feed a family of three, by herself, as an eleven year-old.
Second, she had to break the laws that she had followed all her life. She was scared she would get caught and it was extremely risky. The rules aren't fair because she has to break laws to get the food necessary for life.

Is the anger that Katniss gives toward her mother justified?

I think that the anger Katniss gives towards her mother is fair. This is because Katniss' mother is staying in this world of sorrow, and darkness not caring about her family or the world about her. She chose to stay in her room thinking about the death of her husband, and why it had to happen to her family. I can relate this to myself because when my great-grandmother died I grieved for a long time. She was so kind to our family, and she would always love it when we came to hang out with her. It made me so sad that she passed away. This happened to Katniss' mother, and she not only grieved, but she forgot about what was happening outside of her dark world of sadness.

Another reason that I think that Katniss should be allowed to be angered at her mother is that because of how much she stayed in her room doing nothing Katniss had to walk around every day either finding a way to sell game at the Hob, and find her own food instead of her Mom doing it. She would struggle everyday looking in trash cans or selling different items. I have seen so many people trying to find a way to get themselves on their feet, but Katniss’ Mom just sits there in her room doing nothing, but sulk 24 hours for 7 days each week. Every family should be caring to one another, and each do their share or the children should at least not have to do as much work. This family is the exact opposite which is completely unfair.

Lastly, Katniss, and Prim have understood that their father has died, and will always feel the pain, but they understand that they need to suck it up, and live their life working hard for their family so that they can provide food, and have enough money. The government even supplied them with money so that their family would have money while their mom could find a job. Instead though she stayed there in her room everyday probably thinking of what she could have done to stop the sad incident that happened. In the novel it talks about how the Katniss not only lost her Dad, but she lost her Mom as well. She probably doesn’t even see her some days. I think that Katniss should be able to give anger towards her mother because it has been far too long since the death happened, and she still grieves for her husband.

Katniss' anger toward her mother is a little too preposterous, but it is justified. No one wants to be mistreated or left alone. Katniss and her sister were left alone by their mother, so Katniss had to care for herself and Prim. Katniss thinks her mother shouldn't have done that, and she shouldn't have. Her mother was just lying in bed, in sorrow, not caring for her children, only thinking about her husband and herself. That brings us on to my next reason.
Katniss' mother lay in bed, just thinking about how she will get through this. She wasn't even caring for her kids! It is as if she forgot about them. This can be connected to real-world problems like child abuse and leaving them alone. Katniss' mother needs to care about her children because what if something bad happens to them and it's her fault? She wasn't looking out for her children and she was full of grief.
Lastly, Katniss is not the forgiving type. This means that she won’t forgive others easily. Especially if her mom thought she could survive on her own, but she could. She has the right to not forgive others. Katiniss has said that she wasn’t the forgiving type, so she knows she won’t forgive her mom for being self-centered for months, forgetting about her kids. In conclusion, Katniss’ anger toward her mother is justified.

Q: Do you think Katniss' anger towards her mother is justified? A: yes

Katniss' anger towards her mother is reasonable. Katniss felt abused, and forgotten. She was also very angry that her mother was also ignoring Prim. Other people would feel the same way if their parents acted like this. She had to be the mother of the house and manage everything. No child should ever have to do this at such a young age. Katniss even had to make her own money. Sometimes she couldn't even pay for food, so she would have to try hunting because it is the only way.
Katniss sometimes even had to go into scary locations. The author wrote about a moment where Katniss had to go to a creepy black market. She had to go just because she has to care for her mom and sister. Her mother should have been responsible and went with Katniss. If her mother truly cares about her, she would try to seek people that can help to deal with her emotions. This way, she could have cared for her kids.
Katniss even put in extra entries to help her family out. The author wrote about how she wanted to help her family so much that she was waiting for it to come time for her to be twelve, so she could get extra entries. She cares about Prim and even her mom, that she was willing to have a higher chance to be in the hunger games. Even though Katniss has tried to support the family and show that she cares about her mom, her mom still won't find ways to feel better. This could be possible, and Katniss should be mad at her mom for not caring for Prim when Katniss is loving towards her family. Overall, Katniss' anger towards her mother is definitely justified when her mother could have done so many more things to help her kids, yet she decides to not even try.

I think her anger is justified because her mother did nothing for the family when the father died. She just sat there in her bed or under the covers grieving. The district even gave them money to get back on their feet and get a job. She just wasn't able to move. In the text it says, "The district had given us a small amount of money as compensation for his death, enough to cover one month of
grieving at which time my mother would be expected to get a job. Only she didn’t. She didn’t do anything but sit propped up in a chair." (Collins, p.26-27).

Since the Katniss' mother never found a job Prim and Katniss could not buy food. Katniss had to go start sell things at the black market. She also had to resort to hunting, which is illegal. So she was putting her life at risk to survive. At one point before she could hunt she was selling things at the black market, but since she had just old clothes she sold nothing and went searching in garbage bins. She went to the bakers can and got yelled at by the baker and the bakers boy burnt the bread so he could give it to katniss. He gave it to her and she brought it home and Prim, Katniss, and her mom had bread with nuts and raisins. In the text it says, "It was the boy. In his arms, he carried two large loaves of bread that must have fallen into the fire because the crusts were scorched black.", "he threw a loaf of bread in my direction. The second quickly followed" (Collins,p.30-31).

Not only did Katniss have to provide food for the family she had to take care of herself and Prim. She had to make themselves look preventable or they could be taken to a community home. She had to go buy food and cook it the best she could. Her mother had no longer taken care of them so it was Katniss' job. Prim was just eleven years old and Prim was seven. Katniss became the man of the house. Katniss had to sign up for tesserae, which meant putting in more entries for the Hunger Games. In the text it says, "I would turn twelve and be able to sign up for the tesserae and get that precious grain and oil to feed us.", "Because if it
had become known that my mother could no longer care for us, the district would have taken us away from her and placed us in the community home." (Collins,p.27-28).

Well, I know it might seem crazy, but Katniss' anger towards her mother is justified. I mean, I know her husband died and all, but that is no reason to give up on your daughters. As the text states, she only huddles "under the blankets on her bed", (Collins, p.26-27). I really think she should help Katniss and Prim because if the government finds out, they would have to go to the community center.

Then, she won't even help! Katniss has to do all the work! She has to hunt illegally for them, has to feed them, and even enter more times for the games for tesserae! Therefore, it is completely justified that Katniss can be angry at her mother, I would too.

Without the help of their mother, Katniss and Prim have to do everything and trade at the Hob. Mrs. Everdeen didn't even get a job! She just sat crying underneath the blankets. It would be very hard to live a life without a father alone, but without a helpful mother is even harder! I really do agree with Katniss and I think the anger is justified.

s Yes I do think that her anger is justified. Just because her husband died does not mean that she should give on her children. Shee could still walk and take care of them. Katniss should be mad if her mother is not helping or caring for her. Instead Katniss has totake care of prim and her mom.
Katniss had to take care of her mom and prim. They were very poor so they had tosell and trade at the black market. They did this to get bread and other home needs that they need. Since their dad died their mom has been staying at home. That means that it is Katniss that has to do all of the trading. It was also Katniss job to feed and get dinner for every one.
Since their mom cant take care of them they hasd to care of them self. They had to look like somone was taking care of them.

In the beginning, it could be clarified that Katniss' anger towards her mother was justified. I strongly agree, on many accounts. Lets look at some of the causes why blame is put toward her mother. One reason why Katniss' anger is justified is because her mom was very lazy. She did absolutely nothing for Prim and Katniss. Also, she was very sad during some of the time of the death of Prim's and Katniss' father. In the text, the author writes, "I was terrified. I suppose now that my mother was locked in some dark world of sadness, but at the time, all I knew was that I had lost not only a father, but a mother as well. At eleven years old, with Prim just seven, I took over as head of the family. There was no choice. I bought our food at the market and cooked it as best as I could and tried to keep Prim and myself looking presentable. Because if it had become known that my mother could no longer care for us, the district would have taken us away from her and placed us in the community home" (Collins, p. 27). As you can see, the Everdeens' mom always seem so distracted. Once said, Katniss' anger can be justified and taken out on her mother. From what is above, the reasons for the justification of her anger is all her mother's fault. In conclusion, Katniss was upset with her mom since she didn't take on the responsibilities she had always had, of being a mother.

I think that Katniss' anger toward her mother was justified because after her husband died she was a wreck, and she didn't provide or help her family and they almost starved to death. I understand that she was in shock and upset, but it had been 5 years, and she was still unemployed, and Katniss' took care of the whole family by herself. She had to hunt for food for them, she had to try to sell her old clothes for food, and she was taking care of Primrose, while her mother lay in bed soaking up her own pettiness. Of course any loved ones death, especially Katniss' father, would set back the families wealth, but the fact that her mother sat around letting her daughter go hunting, which could get her shot and killed by the Capitol, while she sat in the house doing nothing, is preposterous. She could have used her apothecary skills to get a job, but she didn't do anything.

Mourning and giving up are completely different things. She still could have tried to help her family survive. In fact, her husband dying should have inspired her to get a job to be a role model for her kids, and show them to never give up,and move on from the past. This would have helped her connect with Prim more, because Prim mostly looks up to Katniss', and who knows what's going to happen to Katniss' in the Hunger Games. If she's gone, Prim will get taken away from her mom is she can't take care of her.

This is the reason that Katniss was to intense and firm with her mom when telling her to take care of Prim while she was gone. She was worried about Prim's safety. The good thing was that while Katniss was gone, he will be able to keep Prim fed, and alive. Gale knew how to hunt, and could easily take care of Katniss' family, the same way she did. In conclusion, Katniss' was mad at her mom because of her inability to take care of herself and her family.

I think that Katniss' anger towards her mother is kinda justified. At the beginning her husband just died so it would be justified. Then she did not do anything after a long time. Last she finally did something to help. It took her months to do something. I think she should have done something to help. She should have cooked some food.

All she did was sit and do nothing. I think that sitting around and doing nothing is bad to do. She should have got a job to make some money. She just gave up and stopped doing anything. I don't like that she didn't do anything. So I would say it would be justified. I doesn't make sense why she didn't do anything.

I think she could have got a job. Helped by growing food for them. It would have made sense for her to do anything. I would think that it would make someone do more work to help.Overall Katniss' it's justified to be angry. I think that it would make sense for Katniss' to be mad

I agree that Katniss' anger towards her mother is justified. She has many reasons to be mad at her mother. One reason is how she doesn't provide food for the family. Another way, is how she doesn't have a job making them really poor. These are good reasons for Katniss to be made at her mother. Especially the fact that this was all because of her husband dying 5 years ago. After her husband died, she decided that she'd do absolutely nothing but literally sit in a chair all day. She needs to get over it.
Because of her sadness, Katniss' mom cannot provide food. Instead, Katniss and Prim trade or hunt. Katniss' mom is a bad influence on her kids in this way. The mother is supposed to take care of the children, not the children take care of the mother. Also, if Katniss doesn't come back with anything on her hunt or Prim doesn't trade anything what are they going to do? They can't rely on their mother for food. They also can't rely on their mother for money to buy things such as furniture. Which is preposterous of her, because she could easily have a job as an apothecary, like she had used to. With the help of Gale, she was a great worker. Then her husband interfered and she still does nothing and even though district 12 is already poor Katniss' family is especially poor.
In conclusion, I agree that Katniss' anger towards her mother is justified. She does not work or provide food. She also isn't a good influence seeing that she does absolutely nothing all day. Also, because she does nothing, Katniss and Prim do a lot of work, including things for their mother. So, I concur that Katniss' anger towards her mother is reasonable.

Katniss is upset about her mother. Upset for the years that she is forced to be the head of the house. I agree with Katniss' anger her mother doesn't provide the family with any thing and just sits around. Katniss is forced to feed the family because if she doesn't they'll all starve.
Years after her husbands death Katniss' mother still hasn't gotten a job. I understand that getting over a loss is hard but years after you should be able to support your family. Katniss should not have to be in charge of the house. Its unbelievable that she and Prim have to get food to survive. In the text the author states "my mother could no longer care for us"(Collins, p.27). This evidence show that even Katniss knew her mother could care for her or Prim .
Through losing her husband Katniss' mother should have talked to her daughters to help them get through the tough time as well. The way Katniss' mother acted was foolish and uncaring towards her children. So, yes I think Katniss' anger towards her mother is very justified.

Katniss' anger towards her mother is justified because she just laid in her bad after her her husband died and did not even bother to try and help her and her family survive. I think she wanted to join him, but she didn’t because Katniss didn’t let her. Katniss’ anger did last until she stopped moning and went to work, but that is acceptable because of how she almost let them die. If it wasn’t for Peeta her and her family would probably of died. Katniss has reasons to be mad at her mother.

I do think that Katniss' anger towrds his mother is justified, but not entirely. Katniss, Prim, and her mother all had to deal with their father death. But no one acted like how Katniss's mother did. All she did was sit around, and do nothing.
Katniss had to take over for the family. Her mother did not even bother on getting a job, or doing anything around the house. The family almost died over this. Katniss was 11, almost 12. She could sign up for tesserae when she became 12. but there were many weeks left to go. She had to take bread that was given to her, because she sat there, looking through a garbage, when a boy named Peeta tossed it to her. Still, many years after this event, she has got better, but she still is not doing anything about it. It's very upsetting how she, a 16 year old teenager, has to care for three people.
But, I think that Katniss was a little harsh on her mom. Her mother lived with this for many years. They started a family, and cared for one another. She probably loved him more then anyone. But that all just disappeared when he died. No, man to love. To live with, and to with.
Overall, I think that her anger was reasonable, but still harsh.
