As my imaginary world centres around different universes existing at the same time, I thought that one way to show this was flowers blooming at different times. This could be because of when they were planted, when the person chose to buy the flowers or when they were gifted the flowers. This reflects the idea that every choice you make creates an alternate universe where you chose the other option. One way I could show this is by using separate panels in a 3x3 grid (either displaying a single flower or a vase of flowers), showing the different objects in the states they exist in in different universes. This drawing shows the first panel displaying a lily before blooming in one of the universes.

Inspired by Helenya Apostolou's light reactive art, I thought that this was a really creative way to show how an object may exist in multiple universes, as it uses colour to show the different layers/states. This is then extended even further as when using coloured lights to look at the artwork, the different layers will stand out on their own. The different lights and their respective layers are stated in the image. Another way of doing this would be to just use a black outline of the layers in different states, however I would have to explore this further as I am not sure if it would just look messy. I think that a really cool way to display this sort of artwork could be on glass frames that could be layered on top of each other to show the universes existing at once, but could be pulled apart to show each universe clearly.

Although these are extremely basic cartoon drawings, I had the idea for a person to be existing with different jobs in different universes. Partially inspired by the movie, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' where the characters have different jobs and skills in each universe, I could create an artwork where the person could have different professions in multiple universes as they have chosen a different path in life in each one. Therefore these basic drawings are just a mock up of the possibilities that this character could have in the artwork. I think that this artwork could be able to be completed using the layers over the top of each other to show the person working different jobs at once, and I would want to do this more realistically.

My artwork, entitled, ‘In a parallel universe…’ is based on the idea that there are multiple other universes coexisting at the same time, therefore, the objects in my imaginary world are existing simultaneously in numerous different universes. My aim is to use pencils or paint to create layers representing the universes in which the objects I pick will appear differently in each one. This will be due to the choices made by the ‘character’ behind the scenes in each universe, as each is based on a different path followed. Inspired by the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ and the text ‘The interdisciplinarity of conlangs’ (Sanders & Schreyer, 2020), my final piece will be based off subject matter that already exists, however, using my imagination, I will expand upon these and display the different “versions” of each, such as a flower in different states or a person working different professions.
