I like the dark, rich detail that tells its own story about what mysterious creature could live there. It also includes some religious inclusion with stain glass windows being present and cosses being often included. This sometimes stems from people being raised in catholic communities but being rejected for some reason but still hanging on to the relics for a way to move on and be empowered from their religious trauma. This is particularly interesting to me as the concept of goth and alternative style stems from misfits and often queer people who have been shunned by society. This is why I think there is so much comfort in it as it feels safe to be different and not fit into a box. There are also cases it is just for aesthetic reasons however it is inspiring to the creative mind to see no matter the reason. 
In this Moodboard I’ve looked at Whitby that inspired the Dracula story for ideas about how grand I could be considering and what shapes play into what made the story. I also considered a more recent adaptation of where a vampire would live in by using images from the Salvatore boarding house in the TV series The Vampire Diaries. I originally planned on using black thread for the wick but I was disappointed with the outcome and I believe the shape was not strong enough.  I really enjoyed playing with shapes when it came to the candle stick holders. I wanted to show a delicate and elegant structure to hold up the candles and I think I achieved this.
 I also tried making a taxidermy inspired raven like the one I have seen in the antique shop down linthorpe road.
I really struggled getting in the detail I wanted with this material but I think I pulled it together in the end. I believe this film helped me understand the importance of emotion within storytelling with sets. The set immediately painted a picture of how isolated and alienated Erik was but with the enchanted forest area during the picnic scene it tells us he has hope and a yearning for acceptance within the real world. However, he relies on making a fake narrative for himself with the fake animals to comfort him. 
The theatre provides us with so much information with the props and grandeur. I also noted that there was repetitive show of religious statues and a form of gargoyles too so i will consider making one of my own.

In the video I saw hints to the style of German expressionism with the misshapen windows and doors that are slanted and stretched. Using a patterned wallpaper immediately makes the space appear more busy and the floral print adds a sense of elegance. The material I used for this effect was strips of patterned scrap fabric. I glued it on using PVA glue. There is a gap in the middle for that is where I wish to add a fireplace. Furthermore, there are gaps at the sides as I am considering adding pillars of some sort. I chose this to draw because of the fact I see goth influencers on social media continue to wear plague doctor masks just for style.
The roses are for that repeated romantic feel we see often with vampire media and even in the Addams family.
The rays of light are to have that religious saint like look that we see in church and cathedral windows. 
Silver outlines instead of black to stay true to the way real stained glass looks and is made.

Table legs are painted cocktail sticks.
The axes are inspired by the Buddhist ritual axe I’d previously looked at but altered to have a bigger impact within the room.
Made using coloured card, cocktail sticks, pen, pencil and PVA glue.
