I have 6 cats and 2 dogs, and I see them as individuals. They have their own personalities, they have their own preferences with paying, they express their emotions differently and I can tell the difference between their annoyance or happiness, etc.

I have a cat named Jack- a human name because it just seemed to fit his personality!

I sometimes have conversations with them if they're meowing or barking, as if they understand me and will respond to me!

I buy them things- their own toys, their own beds, their own treats, etc..

My one dog, Zeus, has an emotional support toy- it is a grinch stuffie we bought around Christmas and he carries it everywhere with him and loves to have me play fetch with him using this toy.
