Lara Jean says, "Plenty of people are good-looking. That doesn't make them interesting or intriguing or cool," (Page 27).

This quote symbolizes one of the book's central themes: the value of inner qualities over superficial appearances. Lara Jean is saying that external attractiveness alone doesn't define a person's worth. This reveals more of Lara Jean's character by suggesting her personal insecurities. Even though she feels ordinary when comparing herself to others, she realizes that qualities are more essential like kindness, intelligence, and loyalty, which are often at the heart of her own actions.

In Chapter 38, Lara Jean thinks, "I had never wanted to be in love before. But now, for the first time, I wanted to be. And I wanted it with Peter," (Page 313).

This quote reveals a turning point in the story, because it a shows a drastic change in Lara Jean's emotional journey. Up until now, she had been caught up in pretend romance with Peter, thinking it was only temporary. But here, she admits her feelings being transformed from fake to real love.

"Baking is my thing. It's where I find peace, it's where I feel in control," (Chapter 4, Page 42).

This quote shows Lara Jean's deep passion for baking. Throughout the story, whenever she is stressed out, she always leans towards baking some desserts, because it is a way for her to find comfort and control in her life. This also signifies Lara Jean's tendencies to seek balance through her creativities and talents.
