         <description><![CDATA[<div>Collective pronoun<br>‘We cringe in holes’. Sense of togetherness. The verb 'cringe' suggests that they are weak and defenseless. There is also a sense of claustrophobia - there is no way out.<br><br>'Snow-dazed' suggests that the soldiers are barely coherent. This phrase is set out on it's own to emphasise how badly the elements are affecting them.<br><br>'We drowse, sun- dozed' suggests that rather than contemplate their deaths, their thoughts return to home.<br><br>'blossoms' is  symbolic of rebirth and this image is juxtaposed with the fear and bleakness of trench warfare.<br><br>'blackbird fusses' suggest that they hallucinating due to hypothermia<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The words ‘melancholy’ and ‘misery’ represent a gloomy state of mind which the soiers are going through, they are also going through a mental and/or emotional distress because of the wether.<br>The effect of ‘misery’ is showing the extreme unhappiness which they are feeling that it is a new day, a new day of war and dealing with the wether.<br>The quote ‘Dawn massing in the east her melancholy army’ this creates a direct comparison between the wether and the enemy.<br>Line two gives the impression that the only thing they know now is that ‘war lasts, rain socks, and could sag stormy.<br><br></div>]]></description>
