I started teaching at Gwynedd when it was still called Gwynedd Mercy College-30 years ago! At that time, I had recently finished my graduate work at Temple University and was teaching as an adjunct at Villanova University. I was so impressed with our Gwynedd Mercy students, because they were not only serious about their education, but they also had a genuine commitment to community service. Since those early days, I have seen so many positive changes on our campus and the addition of many exciting programs. Since I am so very passionate about my discipline, I tend to be quite enthusiastic and energetic during my classes. I teach all my favorite subjects such as Music Appreciation, Divas of Music, Music Therapy and Intro to Broadway. I am sharing with you my favorite song that gets me up every morning – by Dianne Reeves-“Today Will be a Good Day”!

While most of my time is teaching in a classroom, the rest of my time is on the stage! This photo is the Voices of Gwynedd in front of the The Old North Church - where we just performed this past June! We were part of the 250th Celebration of the Paul Revere Ride and the Revolutionary War! When you study music in college, you learn to play almost every instrument, so I can play lots of instruments. However, my preferred instruments are voice, piano, organ and clarinet! I have sung in musicals and operas and performed with many famous artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Barry Manilow, Sarah Brightman and Judy Collins. While directing and conducting the Voices of Gwynedd (our college choir), I have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, Lincoln Center, at all the Philadelphia sports teams- the Phillies, the Eagles and the Flyers, and for both Disneyland and Disneyworld! The Voices of Gwynedd and I have sung concert tours to all four corners of the United States and around the world including Ireland, Italy, Spain, England, Austria, Canada, France and the Czech Republic.

Hi friends,

I am Carol Evans, born and raised in Dallas, PA (referred to as “Little D”), which is upstate PA near the Poconos. I have a twin brother who is NOT a musician and a younger sister who IS a musician. I am married to my husband for almost 35 years, and he IS a professional musician. We have one daughter, Aryssa Leigh Burrs, who IS also a professional musician and has recently graduated with her Masters in Music from Northwestern University. So, it is fair to say the “MUSIC IS LIFE” in my family. We are very passionate about music making in all genres-classical, jazz, opera, Broadway, sacred, R & B, rock and modern pop.

I am especially proud of my recent award from GMERCYU Commencement 2024 - THE DISTINGUISHED FACULTY AWAY FOR SERVICE! I am also so excited and proud to be a quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY MUSIC EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AND A SEMIFINALIST FOR THE LEGACY GRAMMY MUSIC EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR!
