         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>We went over the curriculum advisory work re new SEL curriculum &amp; related PD.  Key points included learning about the 4 key structures of Caring School Community (Morning Meeting/Cross Age Buddies/Homeside Connections/Schoolwide Community Building), talking about Sound Discipline as a PD component (3 hr for all?  15 hour for those who want it/are ready), and discussing pros and cons of rolling implementation for curriculum (Fall 2018 &amp; Fall 2019) and PD (over three years as schools are ready?).  Input and conversations continue to refine the recommendation.  Trina is available to come to schools to meet with principals and/or staffs.  Optional teacher info sessions will be offered across the district first week of February.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We discussed timeline for hardware and applications.  Coz/Roos students will have 1:1 or 1:2 devices next fall.  Remaining elementary schools have coach+ staff devices next fall, a couple class sets to begin building expertise in the spring, then full implementation with 1:1 or 1:2 fall of 2019.  Instructional focus will be on using Seesaw (connected to 5D) and inquiry/integrated units.  Also discussed importance of hiring process and getting a group together to make sure we're encouraging teachers with strong leadership/coaching skills to apply.  Would like to work with principals as well to develop sequence of PD for coaches around mentoring, inquiry, SEL.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Small group focused on structure and focus for PD work in the upcoming months and next year.&nbsp; Concerns include how to ensure that elementary schools get adequate staff PD time focused on the implementation of the 1:1 initiative, and how to work in smaller sized "bites" of time given the reduction in staff PD time.<br>Suggestions:<br>(1) narrow the focus for the work at the school; try to do the 1:1 work well, and not load up the PD time with a host of other issues to the extent possible;<br>(2) Focus in on learning One Note, and&nbsp; Seesaw as the first main things teachers master.<br>(3) Consider part of the October purple day next fall to be turned over to building based work?</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Participants were asked to share what they are thinking about and why they were interested. Three big needs emerged:<br>1. This group asked for time to learn as principals about inquiry based learning. <br>2. This group asked us to create a definition for Bellingham. Consider crosswalks with 5D Framework, the Promise and other documents. Identifying inquiry as the through line for many initiatives.<br>3.
