It's definitely the first name that appears in my mind when I think of English writers. For many people from diverse countries he is also a symbol for English literature. I've read his King Lear, Macbeth, the Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream and some of his sonnets. A wonderful woman writer in the 19th century who wrote Frankenstein. A friend also recommended me to  read a short story of hers which names the Mortal Immortal, I was so moved  when reading it.

He's the writer of the famous trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" and other books such as "The Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion".
