         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pictures are a simplistic and low-tech communication system that can be used anywhere with students who have ASD in communication. The picture system can be implemented in classrooms like in showing daily schedules, communication needs like bathroom or water/food, and can be used to show a first/then scenario. These can be demined effective if the student 1) uses them and two if the student's behavioral issues (if any) tone down or disappear after usage. </div>]]></description>

         <title>AAC Devices Aided/Unaided</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>AAC devices are wonderful when it comes to use with students who have ASD. They can come in very low-tech varieties or high tech such as a keyboard computer system. Ways to start and monitored the use is by looking at the different devices, having the individual help pick out their device, get and receive training on these devices, and then implement it in all daily routines in life/school. Monitored and upgrade as you go to help improve the communication. </div>]]></description>

         <title>ASL Sign Language</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>ASL has been one of the most powerful and proven low-tech ways to communicate with the deaf and students with ASD. The way this is started is at an early stage of their age introducing simple signs that mean something to them. Like drink, please, more, help, no and so on. As they pick up the signs and start integrating it to show what they are trying to communicate then you can start teaching more complex signs while showing them pictures of what you are trying to teach/communicate in the sign. Also, by using this daily with them they will pick up on it much faster instead of just during speech sessions or teaching blocks. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Pantomime in ASD</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is a low-tech way to show what you are trying to convey and communicate. This can be demonstrated by show me how you would take a drink of water, as you reach and drink some water. It can be used essentially for many ways to communicate and have been shown that students with ASD have been able to use this form of communication well from this study. This can be used anywhere but a good example is show me how you would write your name on your paper. Or show me how you would unpack your backpack as your working with the student in the classroom. As the student catches on you can add harder or more complex moves to add on and improve the movements/communications. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Offering Opportunities for Communication</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This is probably the lowest of low tech you can use and help a student in the class with. That is by offering a rich environment for oppertunites to talk and communicate back and forth. When working with the child this can be done by asking do you want that color and then if they reach smile and say yes. Like they were answering so they can see how to response back properly. You can do this in communication in the morning when doing a morning greeting by signing and saying the word hello, and then asking them if they slept good or more. The sky is beyond the limit here and this has been one to the most key aspects to helping engage in communications with students who have ASD on top of their AAC devices. </div>]]></description>
