I built my found poem on the journeys holocaust survivors endoured. These journeys represent not only the experiences throughout the holocaust itself, but it symbolizes the next chapter in their lives. I chose this theme, because these survivors had succinct words for each experience they came out of. They also express how lucky they feel to have survived and the importance of taking advantage of every moment they are on this earth. I thought it was important to capture the chapters of their lives in my poem, using their own words to remind us to make the best out of everyday, and to make the world a better place than we found it.

The first stanza I use questions to help set the readers mind in the shoes of the survivors. Stanza one gives a glimpse into the thoughts and horrific treatment the survivors went through, leading the reader to think about what else was going on in their mind and what they endoured. In the second stanza I use imagery such as, malnourished, striped pajamas, and bald, so that readers can picture what the survivors experienced. I used the third stanza to make people think of what was to happen next in their journeys after they left Auschwitz's? How did they go about starting over and going through life after these experiences. Could they learn to forgive man and move forward to make our world a better place?
