Teenagers in Singapore lived a harsh life during the Japanese Occupation. Before World War 2, they had enough food to eat and it can last them for a long period of time. Teenagers in Singapore were growing well and were healthy.During the World War 2, there was a lack of food, teenagers in Singapore were skinny and their bones were very visible, some teenagers were starved to death. Others would have to travel long distances to find food in the wild, and grow crops for food. In addition, the food they consumed were not nice and they had to cope with it. Some of them had to work very hard to make their own food, or pluck fruits from tree to eat them or sell them, so they can earn more money to survive. Families with a lot of children or babies most likely did not survive as they need a larger amount of food to help the whole family to survive. They were not growing as quickly as an healthy child would. After the World War 2 ended, teenagers in Singapore had enough food to eat. They were growing taller, fitter, and healthier as they had enough nutrition and were not starving.
