I've learned that we need to capitalize on the data the benchmarks provide. There are several useful reports that Mastery Connect (Case21) provides which can allow PLC's to plan remediation that specifically targets identified weaknesses. I've learned the more the teachers understand the reports and Mastery Connect the more motivated they are to use it.

Our teachers that meet with fidelity to review rubicon pacing and the standards assessed on the benchmark had better results. Our EOC teachers already had been administering benchmarks that we worked hard to create and we (Freshman Academy) analyzed our data together in our common planning sessions. We even had a sheet whereby students analyzed their results and looked for patterns. Now that the district benchmark pacing is in stone, the results are not as useful for us. Many of our teachers had not gotten to some of the content and therefore the analysis was not as helpful. I wish we would be able to move questions according to what was actually able to be covered. Our teachers are adding additional mastery connect assessments afterwards to still be able to properly assess those previously untaught indicators.

On the Mastery Connect reports (benchmark data), I like to see our data compared to the rest of district. We get how our performance compares to the other schools in the district post-test for high stakes assessments but rarely before. It is a good check to see where our students are performing compared to their peers across the county.
