         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>My name is Deniz Kömürcü and I am pscyhological consultant of my scholl.Methods, Techniques and Activities Used In Special Needs Education </div><div>Activities in Our School</div><div> </div><div>Our school is a government institute where children with special educational needs between ages 3-23 are educated. We have 151 students who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe mental disabilities(Autism/DownSyndrome/Mental disability). We have 26 classrooms, 5 workshops, an art atelier, a life room(there are TV, Refrigerator,8 sofa,2 oven,5 harpetsand its 65 m2,like a real home and students learn cleaning,eating by themselves,editing rooms and cooking), a infirmary, and a gym place about 90 m2. Our staff consists of 83 members (administration, teachers and helping staff). Two teachers must remain in each classroom to ensure the continuity of education and activities. Branch teachers specialised in certain lectures are also accompanied by two teachers during lecture. The classes provided in our school are; mathematics, social studies, social harmonisation, eating, music, physical education, workshops, reading and writing, visual arts, language speaking and values. We prioritize practical behaviour analysis and we often use behavioural approach techniques and errorless teaching methods. We use both group classes and one-on-one classes when necessary. Our sports activities happen in our gym and under supervision. We have one treadmill and elliptical machine for our children to use. We use sports as a tool to help our children physically and mentally, while also competing in district and regional sports competitions and contributing to our children's self esteem. We also have a life room, a relaxing room and a library for our children. In our life room we aim to improve the daily living skills of our children and have them learn the basic life skills to ensure they can care for themselves.</div><div> </div><div>In our pets class, we try to give our children love of animals by having them interact with a pigeon, a parrot, a canary and a dog named Ayaz. We also have an aquarium. Pets help the mental development of our children and improves their sense of responsibility. In our traffic class, we teach our children traffic and safety in our traffic parkour with practice. In our workshops; overshoe, textile, handworks, furniture and seramic classes are taught. Workshops help improve our children's self-esteem and they get happy through crafting.</div><div> </div><div>Our staff works with utmost effort to ensure healthy growth for out children. This includes actvities in our music room and relaxation room. We also have an infirmary and a school nurse to keep track of their health. </div>]]></description>
