We all expected phone usage to increase during the pandemic, and as of 2021, screen time had increased by 30% with an average of&nbsp; 4.8 hours a day, according to App Annie, a mobile-analytics firm.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The truth is we have become so accustomed to phones and alerts that we don't consider them interruptions or distractions, which they are in classrooms, at work, in Church, or at the dinner table. It reduces the quality of conversations, impacting short-term memory, increasing obesity, stress, and depression. Smartphone addiction can impair your ability to interact in the real world to the detriment of your personal and professional relationships.<br><br>Seven ways to break the habit of overuse:<br><br>1. Make a habit of going one day a week without your phone<br>2. 30 Day Challenge-only use phone for texting/calling<br>3. Get an app that helps with self control and tracking progress or productiveness, ex.: Space, Moment. (or set usage limits on your screen time)<br>4. Don't charge your phone by your bed or in your bedroom<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;-&nbsp; the first and last thing you do when you're awake is probably check your phone notifications.<br>5. Put your phone away when you walk in the door<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -&nbsp; the more you physically remove the device, the easier it will be to ignore it when you have it on you.<br>6. Change your phone settings<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; - you can turn on do not disturb, airplane mode, turn off notifications, remove distracting apps from your home screen<br>7.
