One Person's Story

Our one person story is about a investigative journalist for National Geographic who came up with fake ivory or fake tusk with custom GPS's placed inside. He worked with an expert taxidermist who usually works on museum exhibits, they built a tusk so realistic that it landed in Christ jail when he tried to take through the airport.

Our person is Lek and she has a Elephant sanctuary

She has Elephants in her sanctuary and there are no poachers so they can have more Elephants.

Lek could represent us because our campaign is about Elephants and ivory and Lek has a place to keep them safe from poachers

Why did he/she take action? Lek Chailert founded her first elephant sanctuary in 1996, to provide a home for elephants to live in a natural environment. Chailert and her husband Adam Flinn founded Elephant Nature Park as their latest version of elephant sanctuary.It moved in 2003 to its current location, a valley bordered by a river, surrounded by forested mountains. The park has close ties with Chiang Mai-based Save Elephant Foundation

S-Specific | What do you want to sustain?We want to sustain the life of the African elephant population because elephants are a species that helps protect and sustain the biodiversity in the environment. The elephant are a smart and wise animal that are like forest engineers and without them we would have lost many forests,animals and ecosystems.Why are human actions affecting the systems?They are killing elephants which are important for having as they help forests and it will cause a chain reaction in the food chain as they keep many animals in check. They are also destroying the elephant’s habitats as they are settling in and developing the elephants habitats.
M-Measurable |What international organizations would assist your efforts? EIA, CSF, CITES, WWF, What change need to happen immediately? all the organisations working to stop Ivory trade have to have a meeting and brainstorm ways of stopping the Ivory trade and present it to the government of thailand.

A-Achievable | What change is achievable for you alone?We can design the Elephant fake Ivory.What change is achievable with help from the UN?The UN could help us mass produce the elephant tusk. They can also establish laws that allow us to do this and send a team over to the black market so we can find out more about it.What change is achievable with help from the Government?They can help us distribute the fake ivory while they are pretending to buy the real ivory. They can also do a raid to the black market and capture everyone in sight.
