The bunker/store act as a haven for the man and the boy, providing them with food and shelter to regain health and resources before they go back out onto the road. The 'road' they are traveling is the wilderness in this archetype. The world is a very dark and dangerous place, however they are forced to take it on.

"We have the fire." Fire in this scenario is the will to live, and ice (or the loss of the fire) symbolizes death. The ice in this situation also serves as symbol for the setting. The world is very dark and gray all the time, and it is also very cold, such as ice.

The man and the boy are constantly faced with decisions. They have to decide everyday to keep going and where/if they should stop along the way. This can also be connected with 'Haven vs. Wilderness,' for example, when they found the bunker, the boy felt somewhat safe, and wanted to stay. However, they had to keep moving to avoid being killed.
